 eived the Army Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious a

 ty of great responsibility during World War I. \n\nThe order reads.....'In
  a position of greatest responsibility\, Colonel Moorman displayed peculia
 r genius\, combined with exact scientific knowledge\, in organizing\, trai
 ning\, and operating the Radio Intelligence Service of the Intelligence Se
 ction. Charged with the duty of intercepting and deciphering the radio mes
 sages of the enemy\, he acted with initiative and foresight\, achieving br
